Yes, you read it right – Beyonce said in an interview for a past tour that she does not skip carbs. She goes through “phases”, where she’ll eat super healthy for one week, and then indulge in southern cuisine and sweets the next week. Her favorites are pasta, pecan ice cream and chocolate.
Cheat on your diet once a week to avoid resenting it. Beyonce told “Self magazine” that she treats herself once a week with a dinner like pizza or fried chicken and a glass of wine. Choose your favorite food for “cheating day”, so you will look forward to it all week and really enjoy it. Skinny girls can cheat more often!
The singer has spoken about doing a cleanse diet that helped her shed 20 pounds for her role in “Dreamgirls”. Now, opinions on cleanse diets are divided – some say that they work like a charm, some say that they don’t work at all. I would totally give the cleanse a shot, since all the opinions agree on the point, that it certainly can’t hurt your body or metabolism. Beyonce talked about doing the lemonade cleanse, also known as the maple syrup diet. The point of cleansing is taking in only certain ingredients in the form of a liquid, which helps your body flush out toxic materials that build up in over time.
In the book “The Master Cleanse”, Stanley Burroughs says that you should follow the regime for as long as a couple of weeks, but it’s OK to do it for just a couple of days if you’re not sure you can do it. Make a concoction of fresh lime or lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water. You should drink this 6-12 times a day and consume no food while cleansing. He also advises drinking a laxative herbal tea. Beyonce did this for two whole weeks, although she admits that she had fresh veggies from time to time to keep her energy up. The result was a 20 pound weight loss, feeling lighter, fresher and healthier. Apart from cleansing, this liquid diet is also supposed to stimulate healthy tissue growth. Have any of you tried it? Beyonce has stated that one of the most ridiculous rumors she has read about herself is the one that says that she works out twice a day. “I’m a new mom, I don’t have time for that,” says the singer.
Her trainer Marco Borges says that she maintains a schedule of five workouts a week.
“We do a lot plyometric exercises,” says Borges.
Plyos are exercises that work the muscles to the max in the shortest amount of time possible. One of Beyonce’s favorites is doing bench jumps, which build up muscle tissue in the legs and behind really fast. Before you go out to the park and start jumping on benches, consult with your trainer or a fitness professional, since plyometric exercises should be carefully selected for each individual for maximum effect.
Beyonce does the Stairmaster, the elliptical trainer and puts in serious time on the treadmill. Work out an exercise schedule in the gym which will allow you to divide your time between these three to build up stamina and get fit fast. If you prefer outdoor activities, running, jogging and cycling also give great results.
We all know that Beyonce can dance like no other, and she’s shown us her skills in everything from booty shaking to belly dancing. The singer says that dancing is her favorite way of working out, so hit the club and shake it on the dance floor to tone your legs and behind and work up a sweat. She also did a campaign against child obesity teamed with First Lady Michelle Obama. In the “Let’s move” campaign, she made a dance routine which serves as a full body workout. Beyonce’s Favorite Exercises
Beyonce’s trainer shared an exercise which I’ve never heard of – the Spiderman pushup! Sounds like fun; you start in a normal pushup position, but then bend one of your knees to the side so that your foot is touching the other knee. And then you start doing pushups, alternating legs as you go. This puts more weight on only one of the legs, so your butt and back have to work extra hard to keep you from falling. The bonus is super-toned arms!
The plank is what gives the star her amazing abs. You lie face down on the floor, and then hold yourself up on your toes and forearms. You just hold the position for about ten seconds, then lower yourself to the floor and start over. Beyonce does a hundred of these a session! To make it harder, lift one leg off the floor.
