Turkish Airlines Kobe Bryant Selfie Sweepstakes Takes the Spotlight at The Global Business Travel Association Convention 2014.
Fifteen Lucky GBTA Attendees Score Big Points with Kobe Bryant at Turkish Airlines’ Custom Selfie Zone Booth.
Turkish Airlines, voted Europe’s Best Airline for the fourth year in a row, brought the excitement of its globally recognized “Kobe vs. Messi: The Selfie Shootout” advertising campaign to The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Convention 2014 today in Los Angeles. The international carrier, which flies to 257 destinations worldwide in 107 countries, more than any other airline, hosted an exclusive sweepstakes for this year’s conference attendees to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet — and take their very own selfie — with Kobe Bryant himself.
Fifteen winners were randomly selected leading up to the GBTA conference, with the sweepstakes culminating on July 28 at the global convention. The selfies were taken onsite with the NBA superstar in Turkish Airlines’ custom selfie zone booth. Once these memorable moments were captured, winners were given the chance to upload them directly to Facebook and Twitter, in addition to receiving a printout in a commemorative Turkish Airlines’ frame.

Following the sweepstakes fulfillment, the Turkish Airlines selfie zone allows attendees to take their own selfies on July 29 through July 30, during the scheduled exposition hours.
In April 2014, Turkish Airlines was awarded the Most Viral Celebrity Spot in Advertising Age’s 2014 Viral Video Awards for “Kobe vs. Messi: The Selfie Shootout,” at the fifth annual ceremony held in New York City. Additionally, it took the No. 1 spot on YouTube’s Top 10 Ads of the Year List in 2013.
