ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the week up 3.15% to close at 105,152.17 points on Friday.
Starting the day at 102,211.07 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 3,211.13 points from Thursday's close at 101,940.34 points.
During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 102,211.07 points and 105,242.05points — 86 stocks on the index rose, 9 fell, and five were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the week with a market value of some 695.1 billion Turkish liras ($122.7 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 11.4 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).
By market capitalization, Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lenders Garanti BBVA and Akbank were the leading companies of the BIST 100.
Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti BBVA and state lender Halkbank saw the highest trading volumes of the day.
Stocks of private lender Sekerbank showed the top performance — up 8.91% –, and shares of private equity firm Gozde Girisim did the worst second day in a row with a 1.75% drop.
An ounce of gold was sold for $1,495.50 at the weekly close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,495.50 at the previous close.
The price of Brent oil was $62.28 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Friday — hovering between $60.76 and $62.72 during the day.
At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $53.
