Utah Jazz's Gobert named 2020-21 Defensive Player of Year

ISTANBUL (AA) – Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert has been named 2020-21 Defensive Player of the Year, the NBA announced on Thursday.

Gobert, who also earned the honor in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons became the fourth player to win the award at least three times, joining Dikembe Mutombo (4), Ben Wallace (4), and Dwight Howard (3).

The 28-year-old averaged 14.3 points, 1.3 assists 13.5 rebounds in 71 games this season with the team based in Salt Lake City.

"Thankful for it all … the doubters, the supporters, and more importantly my teammates and all the amazing people around me that push me to be better every day. We only getting started," he said on Twitter.
