CATA organized seminar on Employment Law
California Turkish American Chamber of Commerce organized a seminar to bring the latest employment law updates to business owners and employees in Double Tree Hotel, Culver City at February 18, 2012. After the opening speech of Los Angeles Commercial Attache Gurkan Suzer, Keynote Speaker Attorney Edwin Minassian talked about the employer and employee rights to help businesses navigate the dangerous waters of employment law as they face huge penalties for non-compliance.
Topics included critical issues when to obtain human resource services in accordance with law, increased penalties for misclassification of independent contractors, new employee rights under California Family Rights Act and Pregnancy Disability Leave, commission sales agreements, employee and applicant credit checks, notice of pay requirements, gender “expressions”, social media privacy issues, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and more. The event ended with a Q&A session with Minassian, a valuable opportunity for the participants to gain tips and advice.
